The countdown to “Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty,” the upcoming exhibition at the Costume Institute at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, starts today. We’re looking back at some of Lagerfeld’s greatest collections at Chanel as seen in Vogue’s street style coverage from 2012 to 2018. During these years, the scene outside the shows in Paris—and beyond—was filled with many of his greatest hits, like trompe l’oeil accessories, embellished motorcycle gloves, and his seasonal takes on the cap toe shoe.
