Karlie Kloss Debuts Her Second Pregnancy at the 2023 Met Gala

It's hard to imagine a more glamorous location to unveil a pregnancy than the Met Gala, but that's exactly what supermodel Karlie Kloss did on the first Monday in May, bringing an in-utero "plus-one" to the red carpet and fielding an impromptu babysitting offer from none other than correspondent Emma Chamberlain. (Note to Loewe, who dressed Kloss for the big night: time to start making maternity clothes!)

Kloss and her husband, businessman Josh Kushner, wed in 2018 and welcomed their first child—a son they named Levi Joseph—in 2021. "The moment he was placed on my arms — I literally cry at commercials now, so I might cry right now — I just had this moment of, 'Now, every woman who has a child, every parent, goes through this," Kloss told Today's Hoda Kotb in 2022. As she told Chamberlain, she was pregnant with Levi during the pandemic; debuting a pregnancy on the red carpet is quite a different endeavor.

Kloss isn't the first person to attend the Met Gala while pregnant, of course; last year, a pregnant Sophie Turner attended the 2022 Met Gala in flats (albeit Louis Vuitton ones), and Rihanna is set to hit the red carpet tonight while pregnant with her second child and reportedly bedecked in $25 million worth of Cartier jewels. One thing's for sure: with moms this sartorially inclined, those babies can expect to be born into a world of fantastic infant onesies (a.k.a. less Carter's and more Chanel).
