One Look Wasn’t Enough for Cardi B at the Met Gala

For most people, nailing the perfect look for the Met Gala is hard enough. But Cardi B tripled that task on Monday night: between leaving her hotel and the end of the Met Gala, Cardi wore three looks.

She kicked things off when she left the Mark Hotel on the Upper East Side wearing a colorful pink look by Miss Sohee, which featured a dramatic headpiece.

Then, inside her sprinter van, the performer changed into her next look: a black-and-white number by Chinese designer Chen Peng. While talking to Vogue livestream host LaLa Anthony, Cardi explained that she wanted to reference both the enduring Chanel quilted purse and the iconic wardrobe of late designer Karl Lagerfeld, the subject of tonight’s celebrations, with her second look. She highlighted the bottom half of the structural and voluminous skirt, which was influenced by the quilted bags. On top, Cardi wore a very Lagerfeld-esque tailored button-down and tie. “I’m representing the house of Chanel and Karl at the same time,” Cardi said.

For the celebration inside, Cardi wore a tweed-centric ensemble by Richard Quinn, complete with a floor-length veil. It was certainly a night of memorable looks—emphasis on the plural—to remember.
