“It was a revolving door of glam,” Sofia Richie tells Vogue of the scene on Saturday morning at Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc, where family and friends gathered in the South of France for her wedding to Elliot Grainge. After breakfast, a team of four hair and makeup artists welcomed her bridal party at their shared villa and went straight to work. At the same time, Richie sat down with makeup artist Pati Dubroff (“I always dreamed of her doing my makeup on my wedding day,” she says) and longtime hairstylist and friend Kathleen Riley.

“We prepped in a room adjacent to where her bridesmaids were getting ready, so there were lots of girls, lots of laughs, and a whole lot of love,” enthuses Dubroff, who kept things similarly light. “Sofia has such beautiful, glowy skin—I wanted to lean into enhancing that in the most polished, natural way.” Effortless elegance was what Richie envisioned for the beauty to play off of her custom Chanel couture dresses. “The makeup for the entire weekend was super-simple and clean,” Richie says. “I just wanted it to feel timeless: I don’t want to look back in like 20 years and be like, ‘She’s a glamazon.’”

To create Dubroff’s “natural with a little something” makeup look, the artist used a discontinued Chanel eye palette for sheer, glossy gold lids, them smudged NudeStix creamy blush sticks in Sunkissed Pink and Picante into her cheeks for a “a surprising bright orange that gives a touch of kissed-by-the-sun.” A coat of Maybelline Waterproof Lash Sensational Mascara on lashes finished Richie’s gaze, while Chanel Rouge Coco Baumé in 928 Pink Delight and Dibs Beauty No Pressure Lip Definer pencil in Medium gave lips subtle definition. When Richie caught a glimpse of her reflection, Dubroff knew the right balance had been struck. “She looked in the mirror and said, ‘It’s perfect,’” she says. “That’s all I can wish for!”

For hair, “a very classic bridal bun” was the inspiration that Riley, who’s been working with Richie for almost half a decade, referenced for the occasion. The clean, center-parted knot was held in place with little fuss. “To keep the look sleek and keep all flyaways in place,” she used Got2b hairspray along with a blonde Shae Hair clip-in that helped “to conceal some of her layers to make the bun perfect.” And while Riley describes the final beauty look as “stunning and angelic,” Richie adds that their relationship brought its own joy to the moment. “Not only was she a wedding guest, but she’s a good friend and an amazing hairstylist,” Richie says. “It meant a lot to me to have a friend there.” Needless to say, Richie was glowing from the inside out on her big day.
